I’m a firm supporter of Ballot Question 2B. Four property owners in the Northridge subdivision have lots unlike all other lots in the neighborhood. On these four properties, the Town of Erie owns about 10 extra feet next to a ditch, thus making the backyards of these residents smaller. The Town of Erie does not maintain the property and it is a weedy eye-sore in the neighborhood. If passed by the voters, this ballot question allows three of the four residents the option to purchase the extra 10 feet that runs alongside her/his property for $1–on the condition that they maintain the property and that the Town of Erie holds an easement on the property.
The property serves no purpose for the Town of Erie and its exclusion from the yards was likely an oversight during development of the Northridge neighborhood.
